Looking for Casual and Local in Frankfurt

We'll be in Frankfurt for a couple of nights next week, and are looking for restaurants that are representative of the local cuisine. We're not looking for the expensive French places; we have not spent time in Germany and are looking for more typical German cuisine. A German friend suggested that we try an apple wine tavern -- do any of you Chowhounds have any favorites?

Was just in Frankfurt for first time and enjoyed meal at Adolf Wagner in Sachsenhausen/apple wine tavern area. Frankfurt friend took me and said it's a place locals and tourists go. Large communal tables, so you're in close quarters with others but we ended up chatting with our table mates. I recommend the Frankfurt schnitzel with green sauce, a local specialty (yogurt-based sauce with 7 herbs). Huge portion and 12€. They have English menu, but you have to ask for it.

Konstablerwache has an amazing market where there is much local German wine served at good prices and amazing food. I realise it is not a restaurant but it is well worth a visit and stop for lunch. It is open on Thursdays and Saturdays basically all day and would get busy at lunchtime and at around 4 or 5pm when people are going home from work.
