  1. Just assuming that the 10 freeway is somewhere in your travel plans, San Gabriel Valley can't be ignored. If you enjoy Chinese or Vietnamese cuisines, many choices within five-10 minutes of the 10 freeway can be had.

Thanks for the response. I do like Chinese food......

My response was somewhat vague because I have no idea if you might be interested. And if so, what time you'd be planning to eat, your budget, likes or dislikes, etc... The options in the San Gabriel Valley (SGV) are amazing, particularly after 10-11AM.

      1. There's a place in Big Bear called Madlon's, that my friends and I went to for breakfast once. They serve all-you-can-eat waffles or pancakes for breakfast - they have around 30 different varieties, both sweet and savory. The one standout was the weirdest offering, at which even our server looked at me funny when I ordered it. After my friends took a bite of mine (most were afraid, but curious enough to give it a shot), they all ordered their own. It was waffles with pickles, cheddar, and chipotle ranch sauce.

The other waffles I tried were okay but not outstanding. That one was surprisingly good. At night, they serve stuff like escargot and rack of lamb, but I've never tried any of it.
