Ciao in Eastchester

I know of the restaurant for a long time...aka....many many years, but never been. Has anybody been there and what do you think of the food? I saw them on Groupon and with so many mix reviews, word of mouth and internet, I am debating about going. I am pretty particular about spending my hard earned money on bad food.....Thanks for the info!

  1. I used to go there with my son when he was young. The glass wall back to the kitchen and pizza oven is a magnet for kids who sit on the sill. They give the kids pieces of dough, which is always very entertaining. We used to go primarily for the pizza, which I always thought was pretty good and generally underrated. I don't remember eating too much from the rest of the menu though. What I remember was that it wasn't bad, but just not exceptional. Good, basic Italian food and nothing more.

    1. Hasn't been good for years (well, at least I gave up on it 3 years ago after going intermittently for many years). I have no idea why it's still open.

      1. My father-in-law used to take us here often and we always left disappointed. We eventually grew a spine and said we weren't going back and now we're trying other places so he can have a new favorite that we like as well. The criteria are simple, decent steak & potatoes, at least one good whole fish option and a gluten free menu. So far Sammy's Downtown in Bronxville is winning. If you're set on Italian, we also gave Angelina's in Tuckahoe our thumbs up for future visits.

Yes I am a big fan of Sammys Downtown. I guess I will not be going to Ciao anytime soon, Groupon or not. Thanks guys!
