Special/unique dining experience

I am traveling with a group of 8 friends to New Orleans in two short weeks. I'd love to set us up with a more special fine dining experience. Something along the lines of a Chef's table or private dining room. Suggestions for an out-of-this-world dinner for my group?

The Wine Room or the Chef's Private Dining Room at Restaurant R'evolution would indeed provide an out-of-this-world dining experience.

WOW!! R'evolution was worth all the hype. We were a party of 8 in the Wine Room at 9:30 on Saturday night.

First, the head waiter addressed me by name the whole evening. Second, the room was amazing. Enormous wood table in a side room with one whole wall showcasing the wine cellar.

The wine list was on an iPad which allows for constant updating and avoids the annoyance of selecting a wine only to find that it isn't available. The sommelier was friendly and helpful.

We started with an amuse bouche of black-eyed pea salad with crackling. As one of our guests does not eat pork products, a vegetarian replacement appeared quickly.

The appetizers started with board of assorted meats with fresh bread and condiments. The chef added a cheese assortment to compliment the meat choices. We then tried the crawfish beignets and oysters R'evolution (sizzling and raw). The beignets were simply delicious. The oysters tender and well seasoned without being overdone.

By the time the entrees came we were already stuffed! Most of us chose the filet mignon. It was a bit salty for my taste but tender and cooked perfectly. The brussels sprouts were a pleasant surprise.

We chose to skip dessert but we treated to little treasure chests with bite sized sweets instead.

To top off our wonderful evening, we got a tour of the restaurant including the kitchen and the Chef's Office table with the secret back entrance for the stars.

          Highly recommended!

CP's has a chef's table. Maximo's has a food bar where you sit at the bar and watch the cooks do everything. Very interesting.
