Suggestions for group of 16 pple near Convention Ctr

Dear Locals,
I am taking a group of 20-somethings out for dinner and would welcome suggestions. I'd prefer a festive atmosphere (not a private dining room), and some travel from the convention center is ok, but not too far. Price range about $30/pp. I looked at Pink Door and Palace Kitchen but they seemed more like "date night" kinds of places, and I thought this young work-related group might enjoy more casual (even shared small plate) food. Thanks!

I'd recommend Quinn's. It is a short ride up Capitol Hill from the Convention Center. Lots of excellent small plates, arguably the best hamburger in town, and excellent cocktails. Festive atmosphere, and typically a young-ish clientele.

Thank you. This is a great suggestion. Though they don't accept reservations and I worry about showing up with a party of 16 without one!

Quinn's is a pretty big space, with tables on two different levels, so my instinct is that there would likely be room. You might consider giving them a call and letting them know the day of the week and your estimated time of arrival. They should be able to let you know if it would be at all risky, and perhaps they might consider trying to set some space aside. I think Quinn's fits your objectives like a glove, so I hope it still might work out.

Definitely call Quinn's; it's not THAT big, it's pretty crowded every night. It would be an awesome place for your group - but the realities of no reservation for that sized group should not be ignored. You don't want to be standing on the sidewalk for an hour and a half, or end up walking around the neighborhood looking for an alternative since your starving.

They might take pity on you if you offered a cc# as a guarantee of showing up.

I did call them and they wouldn't take a reservation for after 6pm. They did say that with 16 people on a Saturday night I'd likely have quite a wait. Too bad- seemed to really fit the bill. I see another person suggested Sazerac or Tango. I also heard about Steelhead Diner. Maybe one of these? Do people like Wild Ginger?

People have varying opinions about Wild Ginger. I'm one that doesn't like it.

in that price range, would call Purple Cafe and see if they can accomodate you. Saturday night at other places near the Convention Center (e.g., Terra Plata) for 16 is just not gonna happen. I'd also reconsider Palace Kitchen. It is not really date night. Lots of larger groups congregate there and this is probably the best food for the work group type situation you describe.
