ISO Sake Carafe with Ice Pocket

Does anyone know where I could purchase one? Preferably from a retailer, but I'll buy from a restaurant if I must.

  1. I think I remember seeing one or two over at Sanko previously. Not sure if that's still there though - it's been a while.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I guess I'll start with Sanko since its the most convenient.

Notorious, they ain't built nothin' yet I can't clean. I know my ice bucket would do the same job. I've still wanted one since Omi was on Church St. Don't know why I didn't post the question earlier. And yes, they do look damn cool and they feel good in the hands when using them. A dripping bottle from a bucket has never hit my cool list.

    2. Try Mika's Japanese Gifts in Mississauga. They've had several types and may still have some in stock. They're closing and discounting deeply, so don't wait.

      1. I see the one I've attached below quite often at Japanese stores that carry Japanese stuff.

That said, I also own it and to be totally honest they're super hard to clean and the ice doesn't really keep the Sake cold.

I usually put the bottle in a bottle chiller or ice bucket or even a normal Carafe in ice as well.

They look cool though so I'm sure if you want to pick one up you can at Sanko or J-Town. I'm sure you could also order one online as well.

        1. I've seen these (they come with matching sake glasses also) at Tap Phong a year ago.

          1. Two years later, ultimately the answer was order online from Korin in the US. If I'm reading the responses I got from local companies, Korin appears to be the supplier to all GTA businesses. No mark-up in between, clear answers as to stock availability, no need to take a set with glasses I don't want. All-in-all, I don't think I could have done better here in Canada.

Sweet! Glad that worked out for you!

Now if the LCBO would just get some good sake to put in that carafe...

Nice but I guess you never tried Mika's. They had around a dozen different styles of glass ice pocket carafes. They imported direct from Japan for all their stock. Gone now in no small part because people couldn't be bothered to drive to Mississauga for the real deal.

If I could drive to Mississauga, I would drive to Mississauga. I'm a cyclist/transit type. Getting there would have been a nightmare.

No worries. The shop was a jewel, full of hard-to-find houseware/kitchenware and gifts. Recall that they did a brisk trade in sake gear. They made noises about selling online after the store closed last May but I've yet to hear/see anything. Glad you got a carafe.
