Boom Boom Sauce

I've started seeing "boom boom sauce" appearing as a condiment option at a lot of local places, but as much as I google around, I can't get a consensus as to what the stuff actually is. I tried asking a server once and they said "uhhh... it's kind of its own thing... sort of spicy?" which wasn't at all helpful.

So, what's Boom Boom Sauce, and can I whip it up at home?

  1. I wonder if it's another name for the sauce in the Bonefish Grill dish called Bang Bang Shrimp. Here are the ingredients from a copycat recipe.

    1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup Thai sweet chili sauce
3 -5 drops hot chili sauce, just a few drops

Looks like peppers and creamy. Here's a couple of variants:

      1. It's a condiment like ketchup. Mayo, ketchup, garlic powder, some chili or hot sauce and Boom! Boom Boom sauce, I like to jazz mine up on fish tacos. Yum
