Max Brenner's vs. Cafe Fleuri for 8 year old's bday

Hi there,

Taking my soon to be 8 and 5 year olds for a birthday treat. Deciding between Cafe Fleuri and Max Brenner's (both kds are dessert addicts and chocoholics). I know Max Brenner's is likely overrated (went in NYC and it was ok if you stuck to the chocolate stuff) but it's a lot cheaper, so I am wondering if anyone has been there. Also, I read a lot of reviews of the dessert brunch at Cafe Fleuri, but want to know if it's dumb to spend $30 for a 5 year old to go there. Her stomach isn't THAT big. Thanks!

I love that place, but it's not quite festive enough for a bday. that dark hot chocolate is nuts.

We were at Max Brenner's for a bday recently and it was loud. LOUD. Like we had to shout to hear each other. This was at night though - were you thinking of going during the day? Maybe it'd be less crowded?

Oh, and the food was terrible. The chocolate stuff was average, but the other food was awful, and they got all of our orders wrong, so ended up getting half of them comped.
