Help me finish my Valentine's Day Dinner (braised Short Ribs)

So I'm making red wine braised short ribs for dinner tonight with truffle mashed potatoes. I'm looking for some ideas for an appetizer to eat before the main course.

Any recommendations? I can't do a soup since I'll be out of pots big enough with the short ribs in my dutch oven and potatoes in my 4 qt pot.

    This is a favorite in our house. It's light, refreshing and dressed very simply with just olive oil and lemon

    1. well Valentine's is over, but I suggest this

      Avocado Spread and Shrimp
      Blend 2 peeled and pitted avocados, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 1/2 cup ricotta, 1 garlic clove, and a pinch of salt in a food processor until smooth. Spoon onto bruschetta; top with a small peeled and cooked shrimp and cracked pepper.
