Best chili cheese fries?

Hi everyone!

I'm a recent transplant from LA and have been searching everywhere for the best chili cheese fries - preferably in the Southbay/Peninsula area. However, I'm really particular about my chili cheese fries ... does anyone know the chili cheese fries from The Hat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:The...)? They're known for their pastrami sandwiches, but I love their chili cheese fries and you can grab as many yellow peppers as you want!

Even more locally would be Steve Char-burger chili cheese fries in Torrance - they're almost as good as The Hat's.

On a side note, are there any good restaurants in Burlingame - especially for quick take out? I've tried Mingalaba and Cherimoya. I've enjoyed Magdaluna and a bunch of the Chinese restaurants in Milbrae. Or should I make a separate post about this?

Pearl's Deluxe Burgers is a small local chain that has chili cheese fries that might fit nicely in the niche between fast food and gourmet.

Occasionally, chili cheese fries are available from 4505 Meats. I haven't had either of the versions you reference, but the 4505 ones are very good.

I am not sure that someone who is specifically seeking "Sysco glop" is interested in what 4505 sometimes serves up, but I will chime in anyway and note that Prather Ranch's American Eatery in the SF Ferry Bldg. does a delicious, if just a bit more refined, version of chile cheese fries, and it's on the menu every day.

I haven't tried the chili cheese fries at Triple Rock in Berkeley, but the chili's very good and the fries are good.

Closest I've seen is Acme. No pastrami (like you can get at The Hat), but otherwise you get the same type of industrial strength Sysco flavored chili and shredded cheddar glopped over a big basket full of fries.

Knife-and-fork, please. Hands alone will fail you.

Thanks ipsedixit! I think I recognize you from the Los Angeles board. Yes, the Hat and Steves have ruined me for chili cheese fries - I crave the glop! Seems like I'll have to make the trek to NoPa...

There are lots of topics with tips for Burlingame:

              Hi Robert,

Thanks for the links - I've actually gone through most of them already. I find this to be the most helpful though:

However, no chili cheese fries were mentioned in it, sadly.
