I am the owner of a kosher restaurant in Cancun. But beside us, there are many options for kashrus here. I am from Mexico city. When I got here I was pleasantly surprise at all the kosher options there are. The Chabad house delivers food at the hotel zone, there is a kosher store, and being mexican I know we can get many kosher products at the local supermarkets. Dont bring your own food, There is cholov and pas yisroel as well as all sorts of kosher products here, From raw chicken or meat to sweets and chesse, milk, cereals.. DOT5 RISK IT.

  1. Well, it's all the luck of the draw. If you are lucky with the big ass traffic light they have in customs you are in the clear. Otherwise you are going to lose your food.

    1. You can bring almost anything into Cancun except Beef. We had no problem bringing coldcuts and packaged chicken meals. If the food had the USDA seal you are ok. The kosher restaurant is far from the hotels, does not deliver and has very poor service. The chabad was ok but is fairly pricey. Walmart has plenty of options as well. Do not be scared by the above message

      1. There is another fairly current discussion on this topic at http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/827271

        1. I was just conveying the things that customers told me at the restaurant. I am Mexican, and can tell you, me and my husband got a green light at Mexico Citys airport but because they saw a case full of tapes that my husband brought from London, they did an inspection anyway.
So I am only trying to help. We all have free choice,
I hope all of the travelers to my country and to Cancun have a lovely time and eat delicious meals whatever the form you get kosher food.

          1. cooked meals are permitted, but raw produce, frui5s, vegetables and meat, as well as cheese are not allowed. Good luck anyway if you decide to bring your own food.

            1. THANK YOU FOR THIS INFO. THEY TOOK ALL OUR MEAT WHEN WE TRAVELED TO CANCUN FOR PESACH 2 YEARS AGO. THEN WE WENT TO A KOSHER STORE IN CANCUN AND WE GOT QUITE A GOOD SELECTION OF MEAT AND POULTRY .
I AM TRAVELING BACK TO PLAYA DEL CARMEN ONE OF MY FAVORITE DESTINATIONS. CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME IF THE KOSHER STORE IN CANCUN IS STILL OPEN. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR COOPERATION AND HELP.

I would recommend lowercase. Not only is it easier on the eyes, CAPS look like you are YELLING.

Sorry to hear that happened, btw...I would look at this http://www.jewishcancun.com/templates... and see what Chabad says.
