Vancouver Island Gewürztraminer?

Sam Salmon Feb 13, 2013 08:19 PM

Anyone have a VI grown Goo they favour?

I've had a few and results have been mixed at best.

The most promise came from one grown/produced near Port Alberni (Chase & Warren IIRC) -good fruit decent structure but somehow tight in the glass never realising it's full potential.

Looking for something to accompany a SE Asian style dinner made w/VI Halibut once the season opens.

TIA

Ended up with the latest Riesling from Lillooet (!)

      It really was delicious BTW.

I have liked the Averill Creek in the past. Haven't tried the current vintage however.

Try Blue Grouse from Cowichan Valley. They do well with German varietals.

Alderlea is also one of the better producers.
