Scrimshaw Restaurant Greenport LI, YIKES!
We had heard great reviews of Scrimshaw so we decided to head out to Greenport for a nice Sunday lunch.
They use Open Table so I made a 1 PM reservation. We drove 45 minutes and got there just before 1 PM.
They were closed for lunch!!! There were a few workers in the restaurant who said they were "setting up for dinner but not serving lunch today."
WTH??? I have always been happy with the Open Table operation. They have my cell # and email. Is it their fault? Or did Scrimshaw neglect to let them know they were not serving lunch? I am sure Scrimshaw got a notification of the reservation. Yikes!!
I complained to Open Table and the restaurant. Open Table apologized. No response from the restaurant.
We did have a very nice lunch at Bruce's Cheese Emporium & Cafe, one of our favorites in Greenport.

Next time try Noahs for lunch. We've eaten ther 3 times when we make our pilgrimage to Greenport. This is always during the week; but usually not on Wed. because a lot of stores are closed.

re: Motosport
I've had only one meal at Bruce's, a breakfast with house guests. Food was good enough; service was poor, but perhaps that is to be expected on a busy summer weekend.
We do not dine out for lunch. For dinner, I like North Fork Table for a special meal; Noah's in Greenport is just ok for less pricey but by no means inexpensive dining. We love the pizza at Grana in Jamesport ( have written up a brief report here) but it is a bit of a drive from our base in the Orient area.
After many less-than-stellar dining out experiences, we now tend to cook at home. (Do not want to drive 30 minutes and be disappointed, as has been the case all too often).
I did like Antares in Greenport for duck confit and was sad that they closed; have not tried others in that marina area.
Anything new on the horizon on the NF? Friends (not the most food-savvy bunch) are high on Love Lane Kitchen in Mattituck but I have not yet tried.

re: erica
We live near Riverhead. We don't head out to Greenport often.
We like Bruce's for breakfast or lunch. The food is great and a little creative. The college servers are friendly and do their best during the Summer rush. I love sitting outside in the nice weather.
For a while Bruce's did dinner and it was excellent but they stopped mid Summer. I guess it was hard to break into the dinner comptetion in Greenport.
Except for a new Mexican Taqueria in Greenport, Lucharito's there is not much that is new.
Love Lane Kitchen does a nice breakfast. We have not been there for lunch or dinner in a long while.
Otherwise, I can't think of anything new on the NoFo. -
