My experience with Casa Victoria was exactly the opposite of catlink?! I too have attended three wedding banquets at CV during the past two years. The latest, my cousin's wedding a few months ago. Again, price is over $1K per table. However, for a mass produce banquet, the food was surprisinly good. The whole roasted baby suckling pig was surprisngly crispy ( other places like the old Ruby or even Dragon Dynasty tend to be chewy ). Other dishes were nicely executed. Our table happened to be 'pro-sharksfin'. As such we got to taste the delicacies and I found the quanity of fins and the quality of the broth both very good! ( at least better than say O Mei! )

I have not had a good banquet dinner in a long time. As u know, i was a big fan of bayview garden. And i enjoyed lai wah heen - probably best fine dining in gta. Did not dim sum there much since so pricey.
But ambassador, golden abalone, the one by woodbine costco, all have been ok but not great.
I dread getting invitations since too costly for ok food. But i guess the important thing is the celebration and not the food.
Been to 2 weddings in past year. Over $1k per table for a close friend's wedding. 15 tables. Food was not hot. And very little shark fin and not enough for full soup bowl. We were shocked ( yes, not very pc these days to have shark fin). There were 2 banquets that night. They could not handle the "crowd" and service was uneven.
We prefer casa imperial. Setup not as good depending on size of crowd since small open dining area. But food was really good and piping hot. And good attentive service.
Not much options these days. Dinners at banquet halls which accommodates dancing - have been dreadful. Hard to find one wth good food and ambience.

A very good Foodie friend of mine had a horrific experience there a few months ago. ALL 'steamed half lobster with ginger and scallions per guest' were half raw and totally underdone and have to be returned to the kitchen!! 2 round tables in all! The Red bean soup dessert were also 'burnt' and inedible!! Very amateurish effort for a $1k+ table!
