Growlers in Gaithersburg but I'm unaware of any in DC proper.

Just north of DC there's Franklin's in Hyattsville.

There is a Gordon Biersch location in downtown DC. They brew their been on premises. They are a large chain. The food is meh and so is their beer.

There is also a Capitol City location in downtown DC. They are also a brewpub and brew their own beer. Their beer is terrible along with the food.

If you're beer Birch and Barley is a much better option. They don't brew their own but their selection is excellent. Along with excellent food. Plus they have a great bar upstairs with great bar food.

I've been searching for a friend who's in DC now - I think it's the District Chophouse. Doesn't it also brew beer upstairs?

The Chophouse has some nice house beers although technically they dont brew onsite (neither does Gordon Biersch I dont think but then that may not matter. They serve their own beer there). If you have the ability to venture out to Mad Fox in Falls Church that may be your best option of all. Great beer and very good food too.

Are you looking for a restaurant that is also a micro-brewery or a restaurant that serves micro brews?

If it's the later check out Birch and Barley. Otherwise I don't think there is a 2-in-1 (well not until B&B open their new restaurant).
