Friday lunch - not the usual suspects

On previous visits to New Orleans, I have more than once enjoyed festive Friday lunches at both Galatoire's and Commander's. We are considering branching out for a change of pace and wonder if local Hounds might recommend a new favorite. It wouldn't have to be quite in the same vein as these two mainstays but but we would hope for an equally memorable and delicious experience. Willing to stay downtown or go uptown. Two Sisters Kitchen would be a very different experience and Friday lunch is the time to go: It's the only day they do gumbo, one of the best in town.

You might consider Coquette on Magazine Street. They have a 3-course lunch for $20 that is a steal, plus other items on offer a la carte.
