Late-night Bite in the East Bay

We have a welcome-home ritual when we return from the East Coast, landing @ OAK or SFO around 10-11 pm, to grab a drink and a late meal en route home (which is in south Berkeley).

We usually go to Fonda, which is open until 12:30 am. The duck tacos and margaritas are generally worth the detour, but nothing else on the menu really sings these days. Once we tried Rudy's Can't Fail in Emeryville, but the 'hood is a little sketchy @ that hour.

We'd love some other options for places that have great food and are open past midnight in the East Bay, especially in south Berkeley or north Oakland.

I noticed the other day that Everett and Jones is open late (until midnight) on Friday and Saturday. It was hopping, too.

Here's a map. I added Mexicali Rose, Sun Hong Kong, and Dan Sung Sa and took Legendary Palace off, I forgot it changed hands and from all reports went downhill.

Salumi at Adesso (always order different things).

Salad with blue cheese and 15" Carnivore at Lanesplitter (the larger pies can be soggy in the middle, I'd order two 15" instead).

Spicy chirashi at Kansai.

Spicy hummus and antipasto platter at Beta Lounge.

If you're coming into OAK, I recommend swinging through Alameda, as Park St. has several late night options, is far from being sketchy, and is easy to find parking at that hour.
