Ideas for leftover homemade caramel

  • 9

Hi all,
I made some homemade caramel a bit ago, but now I can't figure out what to do with it. It has the consistency of a soft chew caramel that has been microwaved and then put into the refrigerator to set. It can still be melted down if need be but I'm not sure how much harder it can get. Any ideas?

thanks,
Magnolia

        I second the spoon!

Also, I make an apple crumb pie that I drizzle with caramel before grinding some Himalayan pink salt over the whole thing.

      2. Chop it into smaller chunks and bake it into some cookies. Or melt it down to make a sauce or even integrate into a caramel frosting.

        1. there is a new caramel brownie recipe on Smitten kitchen. She makes them into heart shapes.

            1. I'm with KarenDW, if its really good just eat it with a spoon! I have some in my fridge right now and I find I'm putting it on everything, or just scooping in with a teaspoon as a dessert.

              1. Caramel Powder
melt and add tapioca maltodextrin... i use it sprinkled on custard filled mini cakes

                Caramel S'mores
                Add caramel to traditional s'mores.

                Pancake or waffle topping

Melt it down, cook it a bit further, stir in nuts or seeds... spread out and break into praline pieces.

Make dessert pizza; drizzle melted for part of topping
