Restaurants near Convention Center-STL

Hi folks,
I'm coming to STL for a work event in May. I'll be staying at the Renaissance Grand for 5 nights and am interested in finding some fun/exciting restaurants to try for dinner. I'm a pretty adventurous eater. I'd prefer to stick close to the hotel, as I'll be getting done with work pretty late.

Any suggestions for a sit down (or even take-out to eat in the hotel room) would be appreciated!

  1. There are a lot of nice places on Washington Ave. I particularly like Copia. Also Prime 1000 although I think they may have changed their focus since I've been there.

Here's an article about some new places slated to open close to the time you'll be here.

    1. I am a visitor from out of town. I was doing a lot of research for my trip last July, and one of the things I was looking for was downtown restaurants with good, interesting food and possibly a carry-out option. Places I identified in my list that were close to the convention center included:

      Mosaic (fusion) -
      Copia (contemporary American) -
      Bailey’s Range (burgers) -
      Sen Thai -
      Lola (fusion) –
      Caruso’s Deli (carry-out sandwiches)

The place I went for this particular meal was Bailey's Range. The burger was good, the shake was excellent, and it was a good place for a solo diner, with a long bar etc. But I feel as though I missed out on some more creative fare.

Also, I strongly recommend making it to Bogart's for barbecue. It's two miles south of the convention center, and they have the BEST BARBECUE EVER. At the time I think they were open for dinner a couple nights a week, but right now their website says it's lunch only. Maybe dinner is seasonal and they'll be open dinner hours again by May.
