NPR: How To Save A Public Library: Make It A Seed Bank

Melanie Wong Feb 8, 2013 05:33 PM

Today I was pointed toward a couple articles about public libraries "loaning" seed. The ones mentioned are Basalt Regional Library in Western Colorado and the someone in the comments section says that La Crosse WI is about to launch this service too. There may be 15 or more programs like this --- is there one in your area?

I just discovered a few weeks ago that apparently the San Francisco Bay Area is a hot bed for these projects.

There are many more than the 12 to 15 cited in the two articles in my original post. Here's one list,

Omigosh. This is a beyond-fabulous idea.

I will be thinking on how to help implement this locally. Nice idea, Melanie.

I don't garden, but I loved the idea and wanted to pass it on.

            Go for it!
