Possible to hire a Mexican fruit cart vendor for a party?

I'm a big fan of the sidewalk Mexican fruit vendors around town with multicolor umbrellas who chop up the fruit to order with a splash of lime juice and chili powder. I'd love to see if I could hire one of these guys and his cart for a few hours for a party in the L.A. area. Any ideas of how and how much?

    You should check out Joe on Oxford between wilshire and 6th. He's the BEST in LA... Biggest servings and freshest fruits plus he's a super nice guy..

      i would think that just about any of the street vendors set up in the city will accommodate you with your party needs.

      i just don't think that all fruit stand vendors are mexican though.

        "i just don't think that all fruit stand vendors are mexican though."

        I thought the OP meant a vendor that only had Mexican fruit on their cart... ;-D>

          same difference. I'm more than sure that the fruit being sold from those carts is not all from Mexico. ;{

            Clearly what the OP means is "Seeking fruit vendor for a party, nationality and ethnicity not important, to prepare chopped fruit Mexican-style with chili powder and lime juice." :)

        I'm sure you could hire one. I can't imagine why one of those vendors would turn down a chance to make some money. Just ask them.

          Hired a taco guy once in Phoenix. Drove around morning of party and asked the first one we found and liked...we promised him $250 in sales I think. There was a bit of drinking by guests and that amount was surpassed in about an hour. Very easy.

          Also hired a hot dog guy off Craigslist once.

            Does anyone have any contact info for a fruit cart vendor? Or am I just going to have to drive around to find one to hire? Any ideas on prices? I'm going to try to find Joe on Oxford per the reco. TIA.

            Assuming this is Joe?

              Hey Obsessed— just wondering if you had any luck? I am interested in booking a fruit cart for my upcoming wedding in LA and am facing the same problems as you.

              Thanks!

                I found someone who's done this before at the (I think) northwest corner of La Cienega and Pico. I'm kicking myself I didn't get her number but she says she can do it (for up to 500 people!) for $3 a person. I'll go back there and find out more.
