Facebook?

I just tried to open chowhound from a browser I'm also logged into Facebook on, and it kept kicking me to a facebook page with an error message, even after I had closed the facebook window. I had to login on using IE to access the site.

I was getting that a few days ago as well, Ruth. Like foodieX2, I had to clear all cache, NOT go into FB, and re-log into Chowhound. It seems to have stopped, however.

Except it says "For a short period of time, there was a bug that redirected people logging in with Facebook from third party sites to Facebook.com.", and I don't log in to chowhound from Facebook (can you log in to chowhound from Facebook?).

I don't log into anything using Facebook and I had the same bug with CH and Tripadvisor.

I don't think it required that you log into the not-Facebook site using Facebook, but rather that the site use Facebook Like buttons/functions and that you be logged into Facebook itself. Those functions ping back to Facebook's servers for information on Likes and whatnot, and it seems like for people who were signed into Facebook, that call back was breaking and resulting in that error message.

That's not an official statement, just what I could figure out based on the surfing I was doing last night while this was happening.

It seemed like once you had been to Facebook and then went to another site, you were immediately brought to the FB error page. It happened to me on several sites until I shut out and logged back in. If it's so easy to do, it seems that it would be easy to redirect you to wherever they want?

that just happened to me while trying to access the NYPost and People. Yes, I read crap in the evenings...I also had to log out. Bizarre.

I'm in both right now using Firefox without a problem. FB and Chowhound in different tabs.

Ruth- I just came to post the same thing. It kept happening until I cleared all my history, cookies, etc. Don't know if that just a coincidence tho…

Working now. I wonder if they're working on some kind of "log in through Facebook" functionality.
