Rinse preserved lemons?

A friend gave me a bag of meyer lemons and i plan to preserve them (1st attempt). When you use them in recipes, do you rinse them?

    Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. I depends on my mood. If I'm in a "lemony" mood then I leave it alone. I believe the purpose is to rinse off any excess salt. I don't always bother though.

      I do, and I eliminate, cut, or delay the adding of any additional salt to the recipe until the lemons are in and it is tasted.

        I do, but only to control salt content. I don't find that it takes away from the lemon flavor.
