Manantial - A Seven Sisters Indoor Market Update
I dipped into Seven Sisters Indoor Market (also known as Colombia) yesterday for the first time in about two years. A lot has changed and an arepa oriented place that I used to like seems to have gone out of business, but I did strike gold. In the place of the arepa stall next to the new meat market is Manantial. This place is 100% a snack shop rather than somewhere you'd get actual dishes. Even then the empanadas are nothing special while the arepas de choclo are only average.
Long story short, they do Colombian hot dogs and they are awesome. For 3.50 you get a fully loaded dog with about 3 sauces, crushed potato chips, onions, and slices of melted cheese. These things are great and I haven't had one in years (in NYC though.)
Another nice thing to note was the portions on the juices. We ordered one passion fruit and one guanabana expecting two cups. Instead they gave us two pitchers which contained the entire contents of what they put in the blender!
All in all lovely people, great juice portions and I will definitely return for the Colombian hot dogs. I'm going to give the other places in there a try again when I go, but they seemed to be doing a lot less business than when I last went.
Awesome. I've been to the market a few times over the past few months, but never saw the stall you described. I was sad that most of the market was closed down (there was a place that did really good stuffed chicken), but these hotdogs sound great so can check them out next time I'm there.
