ISO Good Cubano near Sam's Club in Southwest Tampa

Civil Bear Feb 5, 2013 02:36 PM

Will be competing in a BBQ contest over a two day period at the Sam's Club in southwest Tampa, so I am wondering if there is a place nearby that serves up some good Cuban sandwiches to go.

Also would love any rec's for a good breakfast near the airport.

Brocato's Sandwich Shop on Columbus makes some of the best Cubans and deviled crabs in town, but you'll need to get there early to beat the crowd...

Thanks, but I'm looking for rec's in southwest Tampa, maybe near W Gandy & S Dale Marby?

Ahh, you'll be in SOG City.

The "Green Store" is just south of that intersection. They've got ok Cuban sandwiches; but, they've gone downhill over the past couple of years, so they're hit and miss.

OTOH, Wrights Gourmet Shop, just north of there, makes a good pretty Cuban and a good breakfast.

BTW, what contest are y'all participating in?

          Thank you for the rec's.

The contest is a regional qualifier for the 2013 Sam’s Club National BBQ Tour, which is sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society (KCBS).

These are no frills contests, which means unfortunately for the public there will be no bbq on hand for sampling.
