At a small mom & pop restaurant in Havana, I had an eggplant dish that seemed to be marinated with garlic. It was served as an appetizer. Can anyone help me identify the name of this dish or the recipe? I would love to recreate it.

I cannot remember the name of the restaurant, but it was in someone's back yard patio and it was all locals there. They said it was all traditional Cuban cuisine. Our private tour guide took us, we were a small group. There were no english menus so I think this was a real local place, not really touristy. It was in a residential-looking neighbourhood near the fortress. It had a giant wood fired barbecue in the back and there were chickens running around in a fenced area behind it. It was all very clean and nice, the food was excellent and perfect. If anyone can help me in figuring out the name of this place that would be great too.

  1. Could it have been berenjenas rebozadas?(eggplant slices lightly breaded and fried) or "guiso de berenjenas?(eggplant stew)

My grandma used to make eggplant (which is not a vegetable widely used in Cuban cuisine) in a stew.
