Dinner in Beaufort SC on a Thursday night?

  • 2

We are visiting Charleston and will be meeting my BIL for dinner in Beaufort on Thursday evening. I would appreciate restaurant suggestions from knowledgable Chowhounds. Thank you.

  1. Welcome to Chowhound. If you look at the top right corner of the site, there is a search box. (It's not particularly obvious or intuitive). If you type Beaufort there, you will be able to see all the existing posts about it. Just be careful to differentiate between Bo-fort, NC and Bew-fort, SC. :-)

    As an example, here is an existing thread that may be of help:

    1. Beaufort is small, but has some great restaurants. Below are some thoughts and comments, segmented by High End, Medium, and Burger-Type places

      High End

      Breakwater; consistently excellent. Good service, great bar;
      popular with locals

      Saltus; great atmosphere; inconsistent, but generally good; Great Sushi

      Sweetgrass; Excellent food, great service; only negative is that it is about 20 minutes from downtown inside the Dataw community.

      Griffin; Newest restaurant; Excellent Italian food; smallish portions, excellent wine choices

      Medium range

      Emily's; Tapas; generally good
      Bull Tavern; Tapas, excellent; great beers; noisy but fun
      Lowcountry Produce; great breakfast and lunch; have not tried dinner
      Plums; great location; small; service can be slow;

      Burgers/Sandwiches/Etc
      Bricks; Pub food; burgers etc. Always popular
      Panini's; Excellent pizza's and sandwiches; great back deck in good weather
      Que on Bay; great BBQ and sandwiches
      Magnolia Cafe; great sandwiches

      Misc
      Yes Thai Indeed; great Thai food; small place. Limited wine selections; but always good

      Beaufort is a fun and vibrant town and I hope you enjoy your trip.
