SOS Chef back open!

This might be old news, but SOS Chef, the wholesale and retail gourmet shop on Ave B between 6th and 7th is back open after being closed for quite a while - maybe 2 years? The same lovely couple runs it (I guess they took some time to travel after the second child but are now back) and they have much the same stuff - spices, olive oils, vinegars, nut oils, pickles, jams, etc. but especially the cooler in the back with wild mushrooms, fresh heart of palm, unusual citrus and more. I missed this place so much! Looking forward to my fresh chanterelle dinner tonight!

Thanks. I buy my peppercorns there, and run out surprisingly quickly. That's great that they're back in business, and quite a surprise.

Thanks. Seems the news is not all that old; just reopened in fall ... http://eastvillage.thelocal.nytimes.c...
