Breakfast near Chinatown for New Years 2/10

paychecktoday Feb 1, 2013 08:04 AM

I am planning on heading down to Chinatown for the Dragon Dance celebration on 2/10 for the Lunar New Year. The festivities will begin at 11 am. Looking to see if there are any reasonable places good for breakfast for a group of 4 (2 adults, son is 2 yr, daughter is 5) prior to going to Chinatown that is nearby or on the way there. Assuming the area will be crowded, we may opt for taking SEPTA from 69th Street down, rather than driving.

Any suggestions close by by foot, or close to el/sub stops coming from 69th Street. I'm taking the MFL I'm assuming. Sit down service preferred, not grab and go's.

Thanks!

Reading Terminal Market, as far as I'm concerned the hoe cakes with turkey sausage and the scrapple with eggs over-easy at Down Home Diner is just about the best breakfast going. You could get off the El at 11th & Market and be in Reading Terminal 3 minutes later. You can leave Reading Terminal and be in Chinatown in about...45 seconds? That's how I would do it.

Green Eggs or Cafe Lift aren't that far off of the path, but they both get busy.
