Need a suggestion for a business dinner for ~10 people near the Mandarin.

Hi,
i've never been to Miami. I'm going for a conference on Feb 10-11. I need a restaurant suggestion for a dinner for about 10-12 people, consisting mostly of my clients. While it is going to be a business dinner, I don't want a stuffy place. In terms of style or whatever, I'm not too fussy. Something with good seafood options and Miami flavours (whatever that may be) would be best, I think.

Our group will be staying at the Mandarin hotel so something relatively close by (i.e. short cab ride is fine) would be best.

Edge is the best call here that's close. Michaels is a decent 15 minute cab ride up Biscayne but it's a top spot in Miami. River Oyster may be tough for table of 7 in main dining room. Area 31 is also a good suggestion though it may be more quiet than the other suggestions as it's located on the 8th floor of the Epic Hotel so doesnt get a ton of traffic.

There's also River Oyster Bar (it's more restaurant but it has a popular bar). It is slightly upscale but very unstuffy. I believe they have a private room as well. http://www.therivermiami.com/

Also a better choice than my suggestions. Tough to decide between edge and here. I would give edge a slight advantage in food but ROB will be less expensive. Edge had great outdoor seating and is a much nicer space.

Checked out the Edge menu and it looks quite good. Interesting enough and "safe" for this kind of group.

Someone recommended Michael's Genuine to me...I realize that's a bit further. Any thoughts on that place?

Michael's is great but it is pretty far by cab, probably not worth the hassle over the edge if you are looking for a short cab ride.

Edge Steak and Bar at the Four Seasons. Chef Brooks and team do a great job.

You got me there CF -- your suggestion is better...

edit -- edge is going to be more expensive but the food is quite a bit better.

Porcao and Grimpa are Brazilian steak houses and are a good bet for something like your are planning where you don't know what people will like.

Both are a short cab ride away and are moderately priced.
