Looking for ideas for a dessert party

I need a dish to bring to a potluck dessert party this weekend, and I don't have a lot of time to cook. I suspect many people will bring cookies, cakes, etc., so I was thinking I wanted to bring something lighter/healthier/less sweet. A fruit salad just seems so boring, though something with fruit might be nice. Any ideas?

Thanks! Those are some great ideas. I hadn't thought about cheese, but that seems perfect. I have some nice truffle honey, which is great on manchego. Maybe a tray with that, some stuffed dates (love that idea!) and maybe some nuts. Now I feel like I have some direction. Thanks!

I agree with the cheese idea. I would keep it simple: a mild cheddar or an aged gouda, and a Brillat Savarin or a brie, served with honey to drizzle and some nice dates or good berries (if you can find them).

Alternately, a dessert wine or a grappa, Gran Marnier, Amaretto, Pernod, etc...depending on the crowd's tastes.

        - How about a dessert cheese tray? You could sweeten it up a bit: manchego with quince paste or goat cheese with fig preserves are both good.
        - Dates stuffed with cheese (goat?) and drizzled with honey.
        - If you go the fruit route, more exotic choices would be fun: fresh figs, pomegrates, star fruit, etc..

        Have Fun!
