Iron Gate Inn

I remember reading that it is supposed to be reopening. Any news on when?

  1. I think it will open after Valentine's Day because I heard the chef is staying at his old restaurant in Virginia through Valentine's Day.

    1. I have fond memories of this place, but don't know what happened to it. Has it been empty or have other places been in there?

      It has probably been 25 years since I was there, but I worked nearby and we like to go there in the spring when their patio had wisteria blooming overhead on the pergola, and in the winter when the fireplace inside was roaring. It seemed less about the food than the atmosphere, but they did do a good hummus with spiced ground meat (can't remember if it was beef or lamb now), pine nuts and herbs around the perimeter of the dish.

      I hope the new incarnation does well -- it's such a lovely spot.

          I had brunch there the other week. It was just okay. I liked my dish (pork belly, eggs, salsa verde). The interior was gorgeous. But the service was off and messed up several of our orders.

        2. Ate here the other night (off the a la carte/patio menu not the fixed price/dining room).

          We definitely enjoyed the meal, and I would go back, but I wasn't totally blown away. I think most of us ended up with various pasta dishes. No problems with service.
