Italian in St. Helena - Tra Vigne or Cook?

I have heard positive reviews over time (threads dating back to 2008). More recent posts suggest Tra Vigne is perhaps a bit off their game and I have not seen anything negative with Cook.

As context, meeting two close friends for meetings in SF and spending a day trip in Napa. So, not looking for quiet and romantic - just good food, spirits, and conversation.

Thanks in advance!
Chris.

Cook is fantastic. Not sure about Tre Vigne any more. If tou want a chiarello restairant you might try Botega, but I think Cook is better.

      Cook, hands-down.

Tra Vigne is worse than "off their game."

Unlike Winecountrygirl, I'm not a fan of Bottega (which is in Yountville, anyway, not St. Helena).

I'm actually not a fan of Bottega either. I just thought the OP was looking for a Chiarello location, since Tre Vigne used to be. I think Cook is great.

Cook for sure. I would not call it "classic Italian" but it is very good. Nice people, we always feel welcome there.

Cook is more Cal-Italian but always good food. not my experience at Tra Vigne.
