Delivery or take out near 694 and 35W
My friend's baby is in the hospital. I would like to get her a gift card for a restaurant or good grocery store/deli that would deliver or have easy, quick take out options. She lives off of Silver Lake Road NW near the Brighton Golf Course. Her baby is at Amplatz Children's Hospital - Riverside campus if that area has better options. Whatever it is, it needs to be easy, easy, easy, which is why I would prefer delivery. Thanks.

So far, you have gotten responses about food in Minneapolis near the medical faciltiy. If you want something in New Brighton, there is a small, locally-owned southern Italian restaurant a couple blocks south of the golf course on Silver Lake Road called Giuseppe's. I have not eaten there in a few years, but it used to be pretty good for the red sauce type Italian restaurant.

There's not much else on that part of Silver Lake Road. There's a Champp's and Acapulco Mexican place down the road, a Cub store, Taco John's, McDonald's, and a Chinese place, but I would not really recommend any of them in the circumstances you described, except for maybe Cub.

re: John E.
There is also a Pizza Factory/Addagios on Silver Lake Road too. It's pretty solid thin-crust pizza.
I like Giuseppes, but the owner gave me the creeps. If you feel like being fed by the Corleone family, by all means give it a try. I personally prefer my mafia experiences to be fictional.

re: Db Cooper
I'm fairly certain the family who owns that restaurant are from southern Italy. Whether or not they are from Sicily, I don't know. I never got the vibe you got. We were welcomed warmly. Years ago my mother spent a few weeks at a nearby rehab facilty after she had surgery (think nursing home). I went to Giuseppes to get some takeout for her and one of the owners recognized me and asked about my parents. When I replied that the takeout was for Mom at the rehab place she went back to the kitchen and got a big paper sack of bread, rolls, and doughnuts to give to me. Of course Mom could not eat all that bread so we brought it home.
I guess habits change so we haven't been back there in a while.

For easy and healthy pick-up options, perhaps the Seward Co-op would do. They have a great deli counter with many prepared dishes. They're about 4-5 blocks away from the Amplatz Children's Hospital - just 2 blocks on the other side of the freeway. Also, Seward sells gift certificates that are good at any of the area co-ops.
My prayers and best wishes for your friend's baby!

Keefer Court Bakery (Chinese) is about 6 blocks away from Amplatz at Cedar and Riverside. I don't know if they do gift cards or not, but they're a board favorite. (They're still on my list of places to try.)
It's probably on her way home since she'd pass it going to 35W from the hospital.
