Help me identify a Russian dessert, please

  • 6

I had an amazing dessert in San Francisco I'm trying to get a recipe for. Sort of chewy but with chunks of something cookie-like. Definitely had sweetened condensed milk in it.

Full details here,

Would be grateful for any guesses. Trying to attach a photograph. Original dessert was in a big block, and owner cut slices off. It was not halva.

I've had hundreds of helpings of halva in my life. This was definitely not halva.

Thanks for trying! I might just try simmering a can of sweetened condensed milk for 4 hours, per recipes for making solid caramel, and then adding some broken-up shortbread. It's driving me nuts.

Any chance this is the dessert you are looking for?

      1. Which delicatessen in SF? Did you post on the SF board? Someone might be familiar with it.
