We are going to Berlin next week and are looking for authentic German food and pubs. Any ideas?

Yes! Look at the Berlin threads -- there's tons of great advice, particularly about what you're looking for!

If you have any follow-up questions, we'd be happy to help!

I've been on your website and have printed out your advice. Your English best of Berlin doesn't include a good old fashioned German restaurant. Your choices are renger-patzsch which sounds great but more modern, We will also try Jolesch one night. Any others? As well, can you recommend an old school bar?

        OK, more "traditional" German restos:

        Lutter & Wegner
        Marjellchen
        Max & Moritz
        Zur Henne
        Mitterhofer (Tyrolean, but close 'nuff)

What exactly are you looking for in terms of "old school bar"? An Eckkneipe? A beer bar? A cocktail bar?

What neighborhood will you be in?

We are in Tiergarten and are here for what is apparently the biggest produce food show in the world. we will be at the food show for three days but we have five open dinner nights. We are really beer drinks not cocktails. Some places with some history and/or a decent beer. What is an Eckkneipe? We have a few choices from the guardian website...wilhelm hoeck looks cool..

An Ecckkneipe is a traditional corner pub that serves beer and schnapps.

Tiergarten isn't quite my 'hood, so I'm at a bit of a loss... that said, there was a very recent thread on great brew pubs and breweries in Berlin -- maybe check that out?

I can think of Diener, Zwiebelfisch and maybe Dicke Wirtin, all of these are in Charlottenburg, near Savignyplatz.

Not sure if my reply went. Sorry for repeat if it did...

We are only staying in tiergarten as that is thehotel we are staying in for the produce food show. Any neighbourhood is great. We travel a fair bit so are totally fine to get around a city.

Ecckkneipe is exactly what we want! If you could recommend the best of those in Berlin I would be grateful.
