Delivery to Brigham & Women's

My wife is there for at least a week while waiting for our new baby to be born. I'd love to do a "date night" in the hospital room at some point. Does anyone know of a good place in JP, Fenway, Longwood or Brookline that translates well to delivery or takeout? When we had our first kid, we ordered in from Brown Sugar one night and loved it, but was thinking of something a little "nicer". Thanks in advance.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations! Ended up with two "date nights" while my in-laws have been in town and taking care of our daughter. Opted for Brown Sugar again for old times' sake and then did Brookline Family Restaurant - my wife wanted comfort food and Thai and Turkish qualify as that for her. We really love Brookline Family Restaurant - their doner kabab sandwich is so delicious and the spinach pie and grape leaves wrap are yummy too.

More importantly, no baby yet - which is great since we're still a month out from full term - and she's coming home tomorrow! Thanks again!

good luck and thanks for letting us know. I'm glad you liked Family: it is a plain looking place that turns out very good food for very good value. I think their lamb donor kebab may be on my "favorite dishes" list!

That's GREAT! Glad to hear it about the baby - and when you're back for the delivery, don't forget my tip about the milkshakes. It could have been my postpartum state, but my husband raved about them too. I swear that they're Best of Boston :)

Whatever you order, just remember to bring a tablecloth, napkins, real flatware, and a LED candle or two. Those three things will make it feel less like take-out, aren't fragile, and all fit in a small bag.

I know Family restaurant delivers ( its in Brookline Village) - while it isn't a fancy place to visit, the Turkish food is delicious and sufficiently different to create a special moment - the lovely gooey middle-eastern style deserts help. Have a joyful meal and a joyous outcome.

This isn't a meal, but you can order "off-menu" from room service at B&W and get the best vanilla milkshakes in Boston! I was there for five days after each of my daughters' births, and LOVED the milkshakes. Good luck with the birth of your baby!
