New Cookbook Wanted

Hi everyone,

Long-time reader of these boards, first-time poster. These boards are a great resource!

I'm looking to get a new cookbook. I've read many (long!) threads about cookbooks here. I'm wondering if anyone can comment on either of these:

Williams-Sonoma Cookbook: The Essential Recipe Collection for Today's Home Cook
http://www.amazon.com/Williams-Sonoma-Cookbook-Essential-Recipe-Collection/dp/1416575928/ref=sr_1_9?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1359392996&sr=1-9&keywords=williams+sonoma+cookbook

Williams-Sonoma Cooking at Home
http://www.amazon.com/Cooking-Home-Wi...

I currently have Cook's Illustrated: The Best New Recipe and love it. It seems like W-S Cooking at Home is a similar format and style? Would it seem unnecessary to get this cookbook if I already have TBNR?

Or, if there are other suggestions to supplement TBNR, I'm open to any and all.

Thanks!

There are so many great cookbooks out there! It's mind-boggling. That said, I really haven't liked the W-S books very much....

Are you looking for a general cookbook, I take it? Or might you want a specialized one.....?

Go to B&N and browse on a lazy Sunday. You'll find a lot of books that are probably better than Williams-Sonoma's.

Depends on what you want to cook. If you're up for a real challenge but want incredible results I can't recommend this Escoffier book more highly. You can get it used from Amazon for about fifteen bucks.

Thanks for the suggestion. That looks like a great book! Do you find you can use it often, or more for bigger/special meals?
