Any Iconic, Not~to~be~Missed spots for LUNCH on the drive down from Sanibel to Pompano?

Hey 'Hounds~~

We'll be on Sanibel/Captiva for a few nights mid February and then continuing on to Pompano for the second half of the trip. Any awesome, local gems tucked away that we should know about for the drive down? Nothing too far from the highway. Thanks in advance.

All Things Delish,
lisa

You'll be spending the biggest portion of your trip along "Alligator Alley" section of I-75. Nothing along that stretch. As you're swinging through Naples, look up either Spanky's Speakeasy on Airport Pulling Road or Cracklin Jack's Cat fish down Collier Blvd. Both just a short distance off I-75. Neither have first rate gourmet kitchnes, but both are adequate for lunch specials.

going to Pompano, you could cut across the state on State Rd. 80 which takes you through LaBelle, and Lake Okeechobee. Cuts on miles significantly as well. It is a drive through the Old South as well as the migrant communities surrounding Lake O.

I-75 is dull and unless you want to eat from vending machines, you need to pick up a picnic. LMF

Log Cabin BBQ in LaBelle has some great pulled pork.

Dixie Chicken in Clewiston has very good southern food. Love the chicken livers. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g34143-d2314973-Reviews-Dixie_Fried_Chicken_Seafood-Clewiston_Florida.html

Florida Cafe, also in Clewiston, has some great reviews on Trip Advisor and is on my list for the next time I go to the east coast. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant...
