Daley's anyone?

I can't believe that no one has written about Daley's in Hyde Park - it is the ultimate chowhound experience. (I searched, but found nothing after 2009). Go for breakfast NOW! Everything was extremely fresh - the biscuits were piping hot and not doughy or heavy. The fried chicken and french toast was divine - ask for hot sauce and pour 2 parts syrup and one part hot sauce over the chicken. The best. Crispy and hot on the outside, juicy on the inside. My scrambled eggs were amazing. I didn't know there could be amazing scrambled eggs - they were perfectly cooked, rich and creamy. The hash browns had been highly touted - I thought they were just ok, next time will ask for them to be crispy. The salmon patties were disappointing, and of course, all diner coffee is a bit mediocre.

Went for lunch and was satisfied but not ecstatic. The chicken rice soup is homemade and great. The turkey was juicy but the cornbread stuffing was heavy. French fries were not crisp enough. Finally, the fried perch was fresh and moist on the inside, just not crispy enough on the outside. So - good, but not great. When I am back in Chicago I will definitely try this place again.
