Aroi Thai - Southampton

Since no one else had reported, we decided to try it and were fairly pleased. First off, this is not a BYO, but they have a decent wine list. We shared a bone dry Chilean Gewurtraiminer that stood up to the mix of mildly hot and somewhat sweet dishes we shared. From the appetizer list, we shared roast duck spring rolls. Good, not great - could have used a greater shot of Asian basil. The loser was the pad Thai - way too sweet, but with a decent amount of fresh tasting seafood. The standout was the green curry. It was a classic preparation with just enough heat. We asked for the chicken because we were already having seafood with the pad Thai. Our request was cheerfully accomodated. Unfortunately, they were out of my favorite Thai desert, Thai iced coffee, so can't report on more. But, the price was reasonable, the service was pretty good and the food was at least as good, if not better than Thai Orchid in Blue Bell and its twin, Chiangmai in Conshy. Although, the pad Thai wasn't as good as Chabaa's and they didn't have Chabaa's yummy northern Thai sausage, if you live in Bucks, eastern Montco or NE Philly, this place is worth trying.

Sorry, I always forget to say where things are in my posts.

I don't know anything about Chinese. I think they have a sushi menu, although we were just offered the Thai menu. There were a few Vietnamese things and a few Malaysian type curries on the menu. My husband says they own 2 Japanese restaurants in the area.

Thanks for the report. For those not familiar with the restaurant, it is close to the intersection of Street Road and Second Street Pike, across the street from Blue Sage.

Was the menu exclusively Thai? I have not been and was trying to figure out if it was a chinese restaurant that served Thai, a Thai restaurant that served chinese etc. It I think calls itself Asian Bistro, so wasn't sure what to expect.
