Best restaurants in wine country?

Pininfarina Jan 27, 2013 02:17 PM

I'm staying in Yountville but will have a car and so I can go about 30 (maybe 45 max) minutes outside of Yountville. What are the best restaurants, regardless of price, in the area (excluding FL and Meadowood).

Look no further than Redd. Great tasting menu and wines at a good price.

Best thing is you don't have to worry about driving.

I used to love Bistro Jeanty but they dropped pig's feet, lamb's tongue, and veal kidneys from the menu, which makes me wonder if they've dumbed down some of the other dishes as well.

I think you are looking at only their online menu which does not show those items. When was the last time you ate there?

On my last visit (about two months ago), both the pig's feet and the lamb's tongue were on the menu at the restaurant. There is also supply-and-demand. He often has something from the "unusual" side as a special that are not on the menu consistently.

Glad to hear that. I was going by the online menu, plus a report from October from someone who was sad they no longer had the pig's feet.
