Chonitos ... Just what Alhambra needs! An Acapulco wannabe.

ipsedixit Jan 26, 2013 09:12 PM

I take that back. I think Acapulco has less TV screens. But otherwise there's little to distinguish the two.

Same gloppy type of retried beans, hard shell taco combo plates and run-of-the-mill chips and salsa.

It's not that the food is bad but it's just not memorable. Sort of like going to Tea Station for dumplings when you could easily have gone to Dean Sin World or ten other places that do it better.

And you expected...? Alhambra has 50% Latino population who also needs to eat, which is why G'tA is going gangbusters.

Yes and my math tells me the other 50% is probably Chinese but the you don't see them opening an Orange Chicken Express outpost every time a Chanos closes shop, right?

What is "G'tA"? Not sure where you are getting your numbers, but Alhambra is about 1/3 Latino according to the 2010 US Census

Strange they picked a restaurant name that is close to slang for underwear (chones).
