Anniversary dinner in town of Sonoma or nearby

We want to eat the best food- not necessary to be fancy. Trying to decide between Cafe La Haye and Hot Box Grill- or any other suggestions. We are driving up from Berkeley and have never been to either of the afore mentioned restaurants.

La Salette gets a lot of love from the folks in Sonoma. I haven't eaten there, but people, whom I consider reliable, really praise it.

I would choose La Haye over Hot Box in a flash. But the only time I went to Hot Box was soon after they opened, and the food was fine, but the service was snooty. I haven't been back, but others I know/respect like it, so I think it was a fluke.

But La Haye is always a pleasure. It is small, so reservations are necessary, and they have a tendency to avoid seating 2 tops later in the evening, so you might have to eat earlier than you like.
