pressure cooker??

Bought one a few years back after sister told me I was gonna KILL myself canning stuff with meat the same as things like tomatoes or pickles. It's NOT a high end or large capacity... Presto pressure cooker/canner. Works FINE for things that are hard to cook SMALL, like chili and veggie soup.

What do you cook in your pressure cooker? Any tips to pass my way?

Just a note to those without pressure cookers reading along: for pressure canning (of low-acid foods), the capacity of the cooker needs to be at least 10 quarts. For regular pressure cooking, in most small to medium households a 6-qt or 8-qt will be a bit handier.

In the past couple of weeks I've used mine for pasta in sauce, braised turkey breast, chili, steamed whole cauliflower, two batches of dried beans, and probably a few other things that I'm forgetting at the moment. If you search this board and the Home Cooking board, you'll find plenty of tips and recipe suggestions.

I bought a 6 quart pressure cooker a few years ago and wish I had purchased a larger pressure cooker. I might get one of the really big ones 23 quarts to do pressure canning of meats.

I use our primarily for meats a d beans, not necessarily together. The funny thing about the meat. I cook about the same meat in the pressure cooker as I do in the slow cooker, it just depends on my timing (ha!).

I mostly use it to make chicken stock or mix stock (chicken + beef + pork + smoked harm).
