Vito's pizza = manna from heaven

  • 7

First time having this. OMG. You guys have been holding out on me. The best pizza I have had in LA. $30 a pie is a blessing or I'd be having it everyday. Exceptional thin crust, perfect red sauce, buttery mozzarella cheese, delicious pepperoni and sausage, meatballs are better at village pizza, but still delicious and soft at Vito's.

  1. If you do a search and set your parameters for 5 years you will see that it isn't possible to say anyone here "held out on you" about Vito's. It has gotten so many recommendations and mentions here over the years. But lately it seems that we have fixated on either Neapolitan style pizza or the next, great thing such as Grimaldi's and their coal fired oven coming to town that Vito's got lost in the shuffle a bit.

I know. I was kinda kidding about holding out on me. I remember it mentioned on here, I just never tried it because of the prices.

"I just never tried it because of the prices."

Now that made me laugh, because it is so true. And now that prices are up at so many places as building leases skyrocket and food costs climb, the old places that I might have been skipping because of the price finally seem almost reasonable...

A plain pie is $16.50...and is, IMHO, better than all the others.

Two people, four slices each, $8.25 each...I'm not sure how much less you would like it to be.

$2.60+ for a slice is a bit pricey......

It's $2.75 a slice at Joe's in SaMo, but again, they are in the middle of tourist central, just steps from the pier......

Vito's cheese pie may be two inches bigger, but Il Piccolo Ritrovo's n.y. style cheese pie comes in at $13.95...... Just sayin'.

I concur. The cheese pie is my go-to everytime. Makes for excellent cold pizza breakfast in the morning to boot.

Servong, So true, and if you add living in NYC for a hot minute, where all the food is high priced, it makes some of these outrageous Ca prices seem reasonable.

Manku, it was two of us and lunch came to $40 with tip. No we did not get a whole pie.
