I thought this… this was the winter when I wouldn’t need to bundle and run. It’s been so very warm. Until now. Judging by the frost on my wine glass, we could all use a break.

So here it is. My annual list of restaurants that are spike-heeled-running-distance from the subway. Not a “best of” collection, but rather a “closest of” (well, mostly) so please keep that in mind. Goodness knows I wouldn’t have skipped Actinolite or Stockyards if I could have thought of a way.

What can I say? I'm catchy. LOL. No, that's great really.

Anything that encourages people to enjoy themselves without risk of drinking and driving (or freezing their buns off), and hey maybe even save the environment a little while saving themselves the hassle of finding parking is okay by me.

Naturally I prefer the precision of my Toronto map, but obviously this'll help a lot more people. I'm sure you noticed that it's an advertising site where companies have bought their subway stop listing. Me, I do it for the love of it. Thanks for posting.

Chester Eleganté, you know I struggled with Makkah. It isn't really running distance. Have you ever done the walk from VP station?

I haven't, but I did mean to make a note that this one was further. But for some stations, you really don't have a choice.

Castle Frank and Warden are the real problems. CF is so far removed from any substantial residential it'd make no sense to make camp there. Warden is designed in 70's prison motif, a secure eyesore that shows zero respect for the neighbours. VP has no excuse really.

I would also reco Bistro Tournesol at Dupont. It's been a long time standby.

And while I wouldn't say no to Bene Note I think Trimurti is a great spot with fantastic service. You always know what you're getting and it's always good.

I would go with Sushi Couture over Guu for Bathurst. They are right across the street from each other.

Very nice ;-), although, I'd be more likely to dine at the Yonge & Lawrence Milagro than at Steak Frites, and at the Mercer Milagro rather than at Modus!

Volos is also very close to Osgoode Station, especially if you exit on the southeast corner of University and Queen W.

Croque Monsieur is uniMAginably easy to get wrong for such a simple dish.
