Restaurants Convenient to Loew's Ventana Canyon (Tucson)

I've been reading this board to develop my list of Tucson restaurants, but I don't have a sense of location so I'd appreciate some help. We'll be staying at Lowe's for four nights. What restaurants do you recommend that would be a short or easy drive to get to?

I find driving in Tucson at night harder than I'm used to because there are relatively few street lights. I understand and appreciate the reasons for this, but I'm not comfortable driving long distances or complicated routes for dinners as a result.

I don't have any price limits and I'm open to all cuisines. Friends will be taking us to dinner at Cafe Poca Cosa one night, but since I can't get good Tex-Mex at home, I would be happy with another meal of Tex-Mex/Southwest cuisine.

Thanks in advance.

Piazza Gavi is nearby, at Kolb and Sunrise, 5415 North Kolb Road. Good food there.

Check website menus for Acacia, Jonathan's Cork, and Tanque Verde Ranch - you'll find something interesting, I'm sure.

As far as I know, there's no Tex-Mex in Tucson. Loew's has the Flying V, which I've never liked, but my daughter did, so you might want to try it (I haven't been there in over 4 yrs, so perhaps it's better now). bitchincook's suggestion of El Charro might be your best bet.

Thanks for these suggestions. Any Italian or Modern American (besides Abbey) in the vicinity?

Blanco is a modern American take on Mexican. They have one of the best patios in the city and a stellar happy hour. It's close to Loews. Somewhat.

El Charro Cafe Ventana is very near there, located at the intersection of Sunrise and Kolb. It's relatively new, and my husband and I have been there a couple of times and were satisfied with the food, service and overall ambiance.

Not Mexican or particularly southwestern, but The Abbey is a good spot to consider. http://www.theabbeytucson.com/home.html
