Storing Garlic

sarahbeek Jan 20, 2013 10:54 AM

My uncle harvested his garlic and gave me 9 heads of it.
The heads are still brown with earth.
A couple of them have started to sprout.
I can see the garlic flesh on a few cloves.
I'd like to be able to use this garlic.
What should I do with these? How do I store it?

Brush off the dirt. Use now or refrigerate for prompt use the ones with visible flesh or sprouts. Put the others in a pantyhose leg and tie a knot between each head, hang in a cool, dark, dry place like you'd use for storing onions.
