Burekas - phyllo or puff pastry filled with cheeses, spinach, spiced mashed potato, mushrooms, eggplant or meat. My favorite bakery does a whole wheat mushroom and goat cheese filled bureka...sigh.

    Also love a good macaron.

I have never found good bakery products. Much prefer to bake my own. However, I am very hard to please, not only bakery products, but everything that is packaged. Most of the time am very dissapointed in restruant food. Just prefer my own cooking and baking from scratch.

Oh, bakeries. They are perhaps some of my favorite places on earth. And if I happen to be in one that makes good apple turnovers, tiramisu or chocolate fudge cake then I will not be held responsible for my actions. :)

                    sourdough bread

i'm from SF, so i used to take this for granted.. then we moved to another west coast city in the late 1980's and found out they had NO IDEA what sourdough meant. When we moved back to the bay area i was so grateful!

If forced to decide between sourdough bread and cake it wouldn't be much of a decision for me...
